Simon James Morrall photograph

Simon James Morrall

Age: 30

Nicknames: Mozza
Highest Score: 125 not out
Best Bowling: 7 for 13
Sporting Hero: Ivor Owen, Phil Tufnell
Likes: Tea, Lager, Batting
Dislikes: LBWs, old ladies who drive really slowly in the middle lane of motorways.

Mozza joined the club at the age of 12, and has worked his way up to the 1st XI, where he was captain from 1999 for three seasons. As well as his consistent if sometimes dour batting, he fanices himself as a part time spinner (though few others agree)

Dave Gould photograph

Dave Gould

 Age: 37

Nicknames: Gouldy, Tin Man

Likes: The family, sport, Yeovil FC

Dislikes: DIY, loud music, running between the wickets.

Gouldy had been a journeyman of Bedfordshire cricket before settling at Ampthill. He has become established as the regular Saturday number three, and his uncomplicated style has cause many a bowler problems. When not smashing boundaries his running between the wickets keeps his partners on their toes, and he has been known to cling on to the odd blinder in the slips.

As well as Chalgrave Dave is sponsored by Luton Town FC.

Andrew Stuart Bird photograph

Andrew Stuart Bird

Age: 19

Nickname: Birdy, Afro.
Highest Score: 112
best Bowling: 7/37
Sporting Hero: Shaun feed the goat and he will score Goater
Likes: Sport, Cricket(clearly), Football, MCFC, Sven Goran Eriksson, FOOD
Dislikes: Running(its pointless), At the moment Thaksin Shinawatra, Feet

Birdy has a member of the youth set-up for many years but drifted away from the club until quite recently. When not on holiday or at uni he is a valuable member of the first eleven, a technically sound and gifted batter, excellent fielder, and bowler of useful inswing.

Nickname: Barnesy
Highest Score; 128*
Best Bowling; 3-12
Likes; Cricket, Coaching, Cooking, Hot Weather, Gym, Girls, Music, Sport, Italian Food, Beach, Business, Design lots of things...
Dislikes; Smoking, Nuts, chavs, English weather, programs like Eastenders
Heroes: Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, Ricky Ponting

Did you Know; I have a Crown for one of my front teeth, after flying over the handle bars of my bike as a child so i only have a third of my right front tooth...

Barnsey joined Ampthill from Flitwick in 2007, and in 2008 has become a regular first teamer on Saturdays & Sundays. His batting always looks good, but without going on to a big score until recently, when he hit 88* and 103 in two consecutive Sunday games.

Phil Clark photograph

Phil Clark

Age: 36

Nicknames: Clarky, Schmill, Knees.
Highest Score: 173 NO
Best Bowling: 10 for 57
Sporting Hero: Mick Harford, IT Botham
Likes: Luton Town FC, food, LBWs when bowling
Dislikes: Hornets, Franchise Football, Dave Gould & Chris Esh’s calling, LBWs when batting

Clarky is another player who joined Ampthill after playing for a few other local clubs. A genuine all rounder, it is his bowling that had been the mainstay of his game in recent years. Once he settles into a rhythm his miserly style has been crucial in many game sover the last fews years, and has also contributed some handy runs in the middle order.

Andrew Steele photograph

Andrew Steele

Age: 30

Nicknames: Stainless, Steeley, Big Merv.

Likes: Cider, random music.

Dislikes: Bowling, vegetables.

Highest Score: Fifty-odd.

Best Bowling: 6 for something

Sporting hero: Big Merv, Jocky Wilson

Stainless has been at the Club since the age of about eleven. In most clubs he would be a regular first teamer but the strength in depth of seamers at Ampthill has seen him spend most of his time leading the attack for the 2s. On his day is as quick and dangerous as any bowler in the Club, but a number of injuries in recent years have hampered his effectiveness. He is also a capable lower order hitter, and has hands like a JCB bucket in the field.
